Confined Space Entry and Monitor 2025-2026

Overview

The objective of the Confined Space Entry/Confined Space Monitor Training Standard is to ensure that end users demonstrate basic knowledge and proficiency in the identification and classification of confined spaces and in the identification and classification of restricted spaces. 

When a competent Confined Space Monitor is required they must be in attendance outside the Confined Space at or near the entrance.  The Confined Space Monitor must keep track of the number of persons inside the Confined Space at all times, be in constant communication with persons inside the Confined Space, and must be provided with a suitable system for summoning assistance (when needed).

Employees required to enter confined or restricted spaces must be trained in the recognition of the risks and hazards associated with confined or restricted space entry, and understand the methods of controlling these associated risks and hazards.

Those who complete the program will understand that it is the responsibility of each employer to review the specific work practices and protocols associated with confined space entry prior to commencement of work.
